Sasha Ashwini

Professional Dance Artist & Instructor

Sasha Ashwini is a contemporary dance artist, educator, and researcher originally from Vancouver and currently based in Montreal. She holds a Master of Fine Arts in Dance and a Bachelor of Science in Behavioural Neuroscience. Her movement practice is informed by lifelong professional training in Bharatanatyam alongside extensive training and performance experience in contemporary dance.

Drawing from a wide range of embodied practices, Sasha's work is centered on the body as an axis between earth and sky, and the cultivation of groundedness through flexibility, stability and body awareness. To stand in your axis means to stand in your truth.

Her interests include contemporary floorwork, capoeira, seasonal attunement through Traditional Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, and the integration of traditional knowledge systems within contemporary movement practices.
